Tourism remains one of the most productive industries for the Maltese economy, according to the latest reports. In September, the number of tourists arriving in Malta has registered the highest growth throughout the whole year. The tourist expenditure also rose significantly compared to the same period of 2014 which proves that tourism has strengthened its positon among the dominating industries in Malta.
After negotiating a double tax treaty with the Netherlands with respect to the island of Curacao several years back, at the end of November 2015 Malta and Netherlands have also signed to agreement which will be enforced beginning with the 1st of January 2016. The treaty was drafted according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Model Convention.
The latest report issued by Eurostat reveals Malta’s positive economic performance from several points of view, among which foreign trade. Malta ranks higher than other EU countries when it comes to the inflation indicator and is well within the target imposed by the European Central Bank.
